About Hae...What Dose "Hae" stand for?
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////"Hae" is my nickname, short for "Heather."
"Clark" is simply my last name.
My nickname development stems back to before I was a teenager, when younger cousin was almost 3. At the time he couldn't pronounce the "th" sound of my full name. He would instead say "hay Hea." This was not only easier for him, but it also differentiated me from the other Heather's at my school. So, "hea" had since then stuck as a fun nickname for family & friends to use.
During high school, the nickname spelling changed to "Hae," also adding the addition of "Clark" as a part of the nickname. Since then I can typically be heard or seen referred to by any of these alias:
- Hae / hae [most common via friends / family / co-workers / classmates]
- haeclark [most common via net / gaming / some family & friends]
- HaeClark / Hae Clark [more formal & older version]
I hope to use my nickname to distinguish myself from the numerous other designers named Heather, especially in my grade class alone. I would like to make my nickname a part of my designer ID, focusing on my nickname more then my true full name.
Hae Artist...How the person became the designer:
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////My art history begins with childhood. Art & illustration have not only captured my interest since my early childhood, but they also have beed a natural & easy skill for me. I was always known to create more detailed-then-usual illustratons, and was always intested in textures or anything remotly creative.
Art was always my favorite subject and class, as I was otherwise
Threw out the years growing up, I experimented with various types of arts & crafts, styles & mediums until I eventually went back to primarily just drawing & illustrating by my teen years. During this time, I sold 3 illustrations & drawings. The 3rd was to an actual client (rather then friend) for a classmate I went to school with. Unfortunately, there's no picture record of any of the exact images I took, as back then I didn't think about keeping track of such things.
During mid-High school years, I got paid first to create & paint a sign for Skipper's Seafood & Grill, McMinnville location, Skippers Parrot sign to be mounted near the entrance as if he was life-size, coming out of a big hole, waving. The second job I got paid was multi-parted. First, I was to paint the trimming of the inside restaurant's wall & door trims. Secondly to re-paint the bathroom walls white. Then as a final touch, I painted a Skippers clam with pearls scene, 2.5'w. x 1.5'h. in the woman's bathroom, & a "Skippers" mermaid sitting on a rock 1'-1.25'w. x 2'h. in the guy's bathroom.
By the time I was about to graduate high school, I discovered a new world of art; the world of design, print & layout; Graphic Design [GD]. That's when I knew what I wanted to focus my career on, & upon reviewing my options, I found an art college I thought to be the best choice. In the beginning of 2002, I sign up for a Bachelor Degree of Science [BS] in GD at the Art Institute of Portland [AIPD] to start in the fall of 2002.
The Artist...Awards, Recognisations & Achievments
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////I placed second in a D.A.R.E. poster competition at age 8. Later, I submitted a few Illustrations into the Newberg High School's year 2000 art competition. My illustration entitled "Twizted Death" winning a blue ribbon.
While preparing for college, I entered the Art Institute's Regional Portfolio Scholarship Competition. I only placed as one of the 10 semi-finalists, but still consider it good as nobody that entered from Oregon placed abouve 4th [in fact, only 3rd placed in USA at all...]. I even entered a poem I wrote into a poetry competition for poetry.com, & got it published in a book. Threw out my schooling years, I have created my own Illustrative, or story telling books...mostly as assignments.
While in Newberg High school, I ended up switching into the Newspaper class as one of their newspaper artists, drawing various things from small newspaper valentines ad's, to comic & horoscope illustrations, to drawing the images of a story about girl's fashion at that time.
The Designer...Goals, Intentions & Future Plans
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////As a natural artist, & soon to be full time designer, I am currently in the process of finishing my studies for the profession of Graphic Design.
I hope to use my nickname to distinguish myself from the numerous other designers named Heather, especially in my grade class alone. I would like to make my nickname a part of my designer ID, focusing on my nickname more then my true full name.
